About our cause
P.A.W.S - Pennine Animal Welfare Society carries out invaluable work supporting the local community, helping to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats and dogs who, through no fault of their own, require rehoming.
We receive no official funding and are reliant on the generosity of our supporters to help the animals in need.
All funds raised will go directly towards the cost of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs and cats in need. All are assessed by a vet, neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped & given flea and worming treatment. It costs approximately £350 to rehabilitate and prepare just one dog to rehoming standard. Cats cost about £200.
Only when PAWS feel an animal is ready, do we look for their forever home and great care is taken in the rehoming process to ensure the right home is found.
Sadly we have been turned down on the planning for the new site so we are still looking for that special place to establish a base. We need to raise as many funds as possible for either a long-term rental or to purchase something else. Alongside ongoing running costs we are high reliant upon the goodwill and generosity of benefactors like you.
P.A.W.S. is a registered charity number 1159544 and has been operating as such since 2012. Since conception in 2007, P.A.W.S. has rescued and rehomed over 1,500 cats and dogs. We are committed to providing unwanted animals with a second chance of a forever home. We operate a strict rehoming process for cats and dogs and each application is considered on an individual basis.
At the moment we have a small number of dogs in foster care but are unable to take any more animals until we have secured our future with planning permission for the new site. Once this has been confirmed we will have 7-8 kennels and 10 cat pens (including 3 iso units) to once again help people in need. We are currently receiving 10-20 calls every day requesting help and have to turn them down, which is incredibly frustrating and very concerning as we worry about what will happen to the people and animals in need.
Because we cannot take any animals into our care at present, we are trying to help in other ways such as providing food to the Oldham Foodbank for families who need help feeding their pets. We can also help with cat neutering vouchers if needed as well. We can also signpost people to other rescues who may be able to help.
The community lottery helps boost our regular income and in turn will help us achieve our dream of becoming fully operational in the community once again.
Thank you for your support.
